Chicken Parmesan Calzone Recipe
1 whole
wheat sourdough pizza dough
1 chicken breast
2 tablespoons parmesan cheese
1 drizzle olive oil
1 tablespoon flour
3 Tablespoons italian breadcrumbs
1 teaspoon garlic and herb seasoning
1 egg white
½ cup marinara sauce
sprinkle of blue cheese crumbles
Mix the breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese,
and garlic herb seasoning in a small bowl. Dip the chicken brest in
the egg white and coat with the cheese/breadcrumb mixture. Fry in a
small preheated and oiled pan until chicken has a brown and crispy appearance.
Cook browned chicken in the oven at
350°F for 8-10 minutes or until cooked.
While chicken is cooking, cut dough
in ½ and roll out two circles. They should be about 8-10 inches
in diameter.
Once cooked, cut the chicken in cubes
(as large or small as you like). Coat dough with marinara sauce. Add
the chicken, blue cheese crumbles, and mozzarella to one side of the
circle. Fold the dough over the mixture and pinch ends together to seal
in the mixture. Brush the tops of the calzones with olive oil and put
a few holes in the calzone to prevent air pockets.
Cook in a preheated oven, on
a pizza stone, for 15 minutes at 415°F degrees. Once your calzone
is golden brown, remove it and let it sit for 2-5 minutes and enjoy
your chicken parmesan calzone!
